Fred's role includes direct contact with schools and boards in order to explain BEST, its advantages over other assessment tools for assessing school climate, procedures for adopting BEST as an assessment tool and the costs of such adoption.

He is a former Secondary School Principal with over 35 years of experience in public education. Currently an Educational Consultant, Fred now focuses on safe schools issues and recently had co-ordination responsibility for the Bullying Prevention initiatives of a large urban school board. Subsequent to that role Fred and a colleague have begun working on a book focused on how teachers can use various aspects of curriculum delivery to help build positive relationships within their classrooms and thereby reduce bullying. Fred is also currently providing consulting services to the Ontario Principals’ Council in support of the Ontario Ministry of Education Student Success Initiative. His role, as well as providing centralized support, has been to coach principals in changing instructional practices in their schools in order to achieve greater student success.

Additionally, since his formal retirement, Fred has been the Senior Academic Advisor/Acting Principal for a private school located within a residential addiction treatment center as well as a member of the Advisory Team and a facilitator with The Centre for Character Leadership, a consulting firm dedicated to developing ethical leaders in the workplace. Fred has conducted numerous workshops on bullying for educators and educational leaders, both locally and provincially.

Fred received his Honours B.A. in Psychology from York University and both his B.Ed. and M.Ed. from the University of Toronto.
