Dr. Ryan Broll

Associate Professor, Department of Sociology & Anthropology

Dr. Ryan Broll is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Guelph. He holds a PhD in Sociology from Western University. At the University of Guelph, he is a core faculty member in the Criminal Justice and Public Policy undergraduate program and the Criminology and Criminal Justice Policy graduate program. 

 

Dr. Broll’s research focuses on the well-being of children and youth who experience bullying or cyberbullying. His research takes a strengths-based approach and addresses the individual, social, and cultural factors that promote resilience in the aftermath of bullying and cyberbullying. His research has also examined the social-ecological correlates of traditional bullying and cyberbullying, and the influence of parenting on adolescents’ involvement in bullying. Dr. Broll is also interested in policing, with an emphasis on school resource officers (SROs).
