Dr. Yvonne Bohr

Associate Professor & Director of LaMarsh Centre for Child and Youth Research, Department of Psychology

Dr. Yvonne Bohr is an Associate Professor of Clinical Developmental Psychology, and the Director of the LaMarsh Centre for Child and Youth Research at York University. Since obtaining her doctorate at the University of Toronto, she has been working as a clinical psychologist and consultant specializing in child and family community mental health. Her research focuses on the well being and optimal development of infants, children and their parents in diverse contexts ranging from Nunavut to Rwanda. All of the activities of her lab and clinical team are anchored in a strong belief in children's rights, social justice, and the important role of the social determinants of health and mental health. Her research team is currently involved in the following initiatives: the study of parenting across cultures, specifically Aboriginal, Asian and Caribbean cultures; the impact of globalization and immigration on infants, young children and families; cognitive behavioral interventions for children and families; evidence-based practice and knowledge exchange in community mental health; using computer-based learning to boost resilience against depression in Inuit youth.
