About SNAP®:

Stop Now And Plan (SNAP®) is an evidence-based, gender sensitive, family-focused model designed to help children with serious disruptive behavior problems and their families. SNAP teaches children how to stop and think before they act and make better choices “in the moment” and helps them improve emotion regulation, self-control, and problem-solving skills. SNAP is currently engaged in a SNAP National Expansion project which will license 100 organizations, impacting approximately 14,000 children and their families, resulting in an estimated savings of $1.8B in criminal justice costs alone.

This massive implementation endeavor is led by Child Development Institute (CDI), an accredited children’s mental health centre in Toronto, Canada and was initiated with support from LEAP | Pecaut Centre for Social Impact as their inaugural social innovation to scale across Canada using a venture philanthropy framework. The primary goal of this project is to ensure children/families receive effective sustainable SNAP services. Tracking and monitoring all phases implementation with rigorous assessment throughout the process helps to identify challenges to organizations’/communities’ ability to         develop the capacity to implement and provide effective evidence-based programming. A SNAP Implementation Tool (SNAPiT; web-based data system) was developed to track and monitor all of the data collected across the various stages of implementation.
