Dr. McVey has carried out a 17-year program of intervention research in the prevention of eating disorders, linking her findings to public health practice and policy www.aboutkidshealth.ca/thestudentbody. She has published longitudinal studies on school-based prevention and is senior co-editor of a 2012 edited volume entitled “Preventing eating and weight-related issues: Collaborative research, advocacy, and policy change”. Dr. McVey holds an appointment as Associate Professor in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. Dr. McVey leads a provincial training program in the treatment and prevention of eating disorders which has led to the development of a provincial network of specialized eating disorder treatment services across Ontario www.ocoped.ca. Dr. McVey chairs the National Prevention Strategy Group on Weight-Related Disorders. She is the recipient of the National Eating Disorders Association’s Lori Irving Award for Excellence in Eating Disorders Prevention and Awareness and was awarded in 2014 with the status of Fellow with the Academy for Eating Disorders in recognition of distinguished contributions made to the field of eating disorders.
