PREVNet's Scientific Co-Director, Dr. Wendy Craig, took part in Clara's Big Ride in Kingston. Olympian Clara Hughes is currently biking across Canada - 110 day event - and stopping in various communities on her route to discuss mental health in Canada.
Clara Hughes has herself suffered from depression and is committed to helping eliminate the stigma of mental health in Canada. Dr. Wendy Craig spoke about the link between healthy relationships and positive mental health. Children's brain development, mental, and physical health are all much reliant on the relationships with those around them. Social development is as critical a factor in development as education. A failure in developing healthy relationships results in mental health issues such as depression, and anxiety.
