The Canadian Best Practices Portal was launched in 2006 to provide a one-stop shop of quality evidence to help Canadian public health practitioners and decision-makers to identify effective community and population health interventions relevant to chronic disease prevention and health promotion. The Portal has evolved to also provide information to support planning, implementation and evaluation of public health policy and program interventions, as well as to support the professional development of public health professionals and decision-makers. The focus is on increasing access to information from provincial/territorial, national and international sources which could be used to inform program development in health departments. The Portal both showcases the Public Health Agency of Canada’s information and evidence, as well as brings together evidence on public health surveillance, interventions, policy frameworks and resources from other credible sources.
