Linda Booij is Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology of Queen’s University, and a researcher at CHU Sainte-Justine in Montreal, in the research Group of Children’s Psychosocial Maladjustment (GRIP). Before that time, she obtained her Ph.D. degree in Clinical Psychology at Leiden University in the Netherlands, and did a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Psychiatry of McGill University. Linda is currently a holder of a New Investigator Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
Linda’s current main research focus is on how perinatal adversity as well as environmental stressors happening in childhood and adolescence (e.g. being exposed to bullying), in combination with genetic factors could affect brain development, the functioning of the brain chemical serotonin and risk for mental health problems. The methods she is using in her research program include brain-imaging, genetics, epigenetics (DNA methylation) and behavioural/cognitive measures.
